Hey, foodie friends,
Spetsofai is a Greek meze prepared with spicy Greek sausages and bell peppers. combined in a rich tomato sauce. I came across some country-style spicy greek sausages the other day and I thought why not make Spetsofai? I sliced, chopped, and tossed all the ingredients into the pot. Believe it or not, this is actually the first time I’ve ever used a pot and not a pan.
This recipe originates from an area of Greece called Pelion which is in the Southeastern part of Thessaly, Greece. In the original recipe, one of the main ingredients that are used is aubergine. Personally, I’ve never added aubergines. This meze paired with greek feta cheese, fresh crusty bread, and a lovely glass of wine is a great addition to your table.
Kitchen Update: Nothing to report. At the moment I am cooking on a two-burner hob. There’s more wait let’s not forget washing oh I am sure you will find this funny, I wash our small pots, cutlery, vegetables, and fruits in the bathroom sink.
I boil, and steam, I avoid frying but how much boiled or steamed food can you possibly eat? I am not really a fan of fried food except for French Fries. A better option is to go with an air fryer, and I did.
That’s it for now, I hope you enjoy this truly delicious and simple recipe. Just remember this is my way of preparing this tasty dish. 🙂
I am dedicating this post to Noli my mother law who passed away on July 4th, 2022. She was a remarkable woman and holds a special place in my heart.
