Baked Feta with Peppers (Bouyiourdi)

Hey there,

Baked Feta cheese with peppers what can I possibly say about this spicy dip?  Let me start by saying that Feta cheese is the star of Greek cuisine. This cheese can be found in many Greek recipes, not only in Greek recipes but in various recipes in other cuisines.   A delicious and so simple appetizer that makes you want to eat it all in one bite.  This Baked Feta cheese with Peppers in Greek is called Bouyiourdi, the word Bouyiourdi comes from the Turkish meaning “ordered”.  (I just wanted to add this bit of info) A spicy feta cheese dip made with red bell peppers, fresh tomatoes, grated kasseri, and the star ingredient feta.

Keep in mind that you should use good-quality feta for this dip. Avoid using the Greek-style feta because the taste won’t be the same. To get that spicy taste you can also use chili peppers, for this recipe, I used chilly flakes, instead of chili peppers because the peppers are way too hot for my tastebuds.  But if your family, friends, or you are a spicy food lover, go ahead and make it spicy.

This is not only perfect as an appetizer but believe me many choose to eat this feta and pepper dish as their main course.  Fresh tomatoes are in markets throughout the year so this shouldn’t stop you from making this recipe.  What’s great about this dip? You can make this Baked Feta with Peppers recipe spicy or not.  Winter season, combining all these delicious ingredients plus the added chili flakes makes this a spicy oh-so-yummy dip that gives you a sense of warmth. In the warmer season without the additional hot spice, the baked peppers stand out.

I use my terracotta pan to prepare recipes of this kind because it adds a smokey taste.  So grab a slice of pita bread, fresh bread, or crackers and do some dipping.  This Baked Feta with Peppers is a definite must-appetizer.

Wishing everyone a wonderful morning/afternoon/evening
