Hey hey,
My fellow foodie cheese friends, do I have a delicious soft cheese recipe for you! Roasted Greek Manouri Cheese! What is Manouri cheese? It’s similar to feta but creamier and has just enough salt.
Here’s the thing: roasting Manouri is ridiculously simple. Now, you can either make it sweet and simple like I did (I drizzled honey over it) orrrrr you can drizzle with a good amount of olive oil. Sprinkle some oregano, and even a pinch of chili flakes if you like a little spicy kick.
This Greek Manouri isn’t just a cheese, noooooo t’s the kind of cheese that steals the spotlight. Soft, creamy, and just enough salt. It’s the perfect centerpiece for a Greek-inspired cheese board.
Picture it: wedges of manouri surrounded by Kalamata olives. yummm!! Add a few slices of ripe figs, a drizzle of Greek honey, and a handful of nuts. ( I often use cashews or pistachios) Add to the centerpiece a loaf of crusty bread (or a pile of pita ) and you’ve got yourself a spread. Which I am thinking of doing myself, for next month. The beauty of manouri is its versatility. One bite and you’ll understand why it’s a Greek treasure. 🙂
I’ve made this appetizer more times than I can count. I’ve got two more manouri cheeses in my fridge. I usually prepare these delicious treats on weekends, because best to eat it straight out of the oven. With a glass of wine, it’s another instant Greek night at home.
This delicious Roasted Greek Manouri Cheese turns golden, bubbly, and slightly caramelized. Scoop it up with a piece of warm bread or pair it with roasted veggies or salad. As you can see, I added it to a delicious lettuce salad.
Have a great morning/afternoon/evening!
