Greek Style Pasta with Cinnamon and Cheese Recipe

Hi there,

Have you ever had Cinnamon into your Pasta?  If not well here is your chance to try out this delicious combination.  I came across the Pasta dish about 25 years ago.  I was in Greece for about 4 years, when my parents and the whollle Greek Family decided they were going to do a day trip to Halkida, Greece.

It’s about 1 1/2 outside of Athens with the new high way, but back then I think, I think  it was about 3 1/2 hours. We were all squeezed together into 2 cars. ufff  Big Family!!  My Aunts and Uncles talked about this very old Tavern that existed (and still does) wayyyy up on a mountain top. I remember them saying that this tavern has/had the BEST PASTA.

When we arrived at the Tavern we all sat at this huge table, and were debating what to order.  The Tavern basically only serves Pasta, but if I remember correctly they also had some side dishes, for example, salads, Tzatziki. When the Pasta finally arrived I looked at my cousin Julie. She was already laughing because I was making those usual facial expressions. hahahaha  “What””CInnamon””Blaahhh” and much more.

Julie kept telling me that this is actually quite good, just give it a try.  Now, because I trust her, I went ahead and took that first bite.. I have to say I was amazed, and surprised!!  This recipe is not exactly the same as the Taverns because they do have that their little secret ingredient, but I think it comes very close.  Either way this recipe tastes amazing.

I dare you to try it and if you do I definitely want to know what you thought!! 🙂     hehhehe

Let me know what you think  🙂

Have a great week everyone !!

1 package Pasta

4 Tablespoons Cinnamon Power

1/4 cup Vegetable Oil

2 cups Parmesan Cheese

Boil pasta in salted water.

Drain and add in the cheese,

continue by adding in the Cinnamon and Vegetable.  Give the ingredient a good mix.

      • So my Grandma was greek. She would always make me “greek pasta” and it is just how it is in your recipe. It is my comfort food… And just today, after nearly 35 years of eating it I decided to look up and see if it’s really greek. Ha. Thank you

      • Hi, Thank you for dropping by and Yep it is Greek. 🙂 There is also a very old traditional Greek Tavern in Evoia Greece close to Chaika that actually makes it. And believe me it is soooooo delicious!! If you ever have the opportunity to travel to Greece you have to visit the “Climaki”Tavern in Evoia Greece 🙂 Thank you so much for dropping by 🙂 Sophie

  7. Wonderful pasta! Love the delicious flavors in it.

  8. Sounds very interesting, though I have to wonder if 4 tablespoons is indeed the right amount? it sounds a lot to me.

  9. Ahhh I grew up eating this! My yiayia would make cinnamon spaghetti for us growing up and we always loved it. She was happy we liked it so much. I was trying to remember what went in her spaghetti other than cinnamon and olive oil – I forgot about the cheese! I wonder if she used kefalotiri! Thank you for this post – dishes on the internet are all so complicated but my yiayia kept things simple!
