Easy Yogurt Custard Cake

Hey hey,

This Easy Yogurt Custard Cake belongs in a category of its own.  It’s soft, delicate, lightly sweet, and full of that cozy simplicity that makes Mediterranean desserts so special.  It’s the kind of cake you make when you want something comforting but not heavy, something elegant but not fussy.  Maybe you would like to try this lemon cake recipe that is also made with Greek Yogurt: https://foodzesty.com/greek-yogurt-lemon-cake-recipe/

Growing up, yogurt was always in the fridge. Not the flavored kind, the real, thick, plain yogurt that Greeks use for everything: breakfast, savory dishes, marinades, and of course, baking. Friends, I need to clarify something: Greek-style yogurt is not Greek yogurt.  It’s way too watery. Greek yogurt is thick!! :). So when you see Greek-style yogurt, just know you are not eating Greek Yogurt. 🙂

My mother would often make a quick yogurt cake on quiet afternoons, usually when she wanted something sweet but didn’t want to fuss with mixers or complicated steps. She’d stir everything together with a wooden spoon, pour it into a pan, and the whole house would fill with that warm, buttery smell that meant “cake is coming.”

The yogurt gives the cake a beautiful texture: tender, fluffy, and never dry. It’s the kind of cake you can serve with coffee, dress up with fruit, or enjoy plain, still warm from the oven.  You can add anything to it and make it your own.  I added a few drops of Vanilla extract because I wanted something simple.

And the best part? It’s truly easy. No special equipment, no complicated steps, no stress. Just a bowl, a whisk, and a few minutes of mixing.

And here’s the part I love most: it looks and tastes like custard, but it’s not custard at all. There’s no cream, no cornstarch, no complicated steps. Just yogurt, eggs, and a few simple ingredients that bake into something creamy, delicate, and impossibly comforting.

This Easy Yogurt-Custard Cake is most likely the dessert you might want to serve after that large Easter Meal.

Have a wonderful morning/afternoon/evening, everyone!! 🙂
