Hello, my foodie friends
On the hunt for a delicious Greek meze? Say no more! This Roasted Peppers & Feta Meze is what you’re looking for. It’s a tangy, smoky, and seriously easy meze to whip up. Perfect for piling onto crusty bread, scooping with pita, or just sneaking bites straight from the bowl. 🙂
The first time I tried this meze was over 30 years ago—yes, it’s been that long—and it’s stuck with me ever since. I was visiting a friend who lived in a small town just outside of Skydra, Greece, and we ended up at this tiny, charming tavern called Barba Giannis (Uncle John). You know, the kind with the old wooden chairs, very few had handwritten menus, if you’ve visited Greece you know exactly what Im talking about, and the smell of grilled food floating through the air.
Back then, most small taverns didn’t bother with printed menus. Instead, things worked a little differently. The owner would make his rounds around the table, ready to tell you what was cooking that day. He’d usually begin by listing off the mezedes, one by one. When he mentioned this roasted red pepper and feta meze, something about it stood out. It also could have been the way he described it. Either way, I said yes. And I’m so glad I did.
This little meze is the perfect addition to your Easter table or, actually, any table. You can either fry the red bell peppers or roast them. I went with roasting them because, quite frankly, nothing beats that smoky flavor. right? I crumbled some creamy feta over them, drizzled a generous amount of olive oil, sprinkled a bit of oregano, added just a splash of vinegar, and boom—done!
So, once in a while, when I come across some fresh, vibrant red peppers, this becomes my go-to meze for the day. It’s one of those simple Greek dishes that doesn’t ask for much but gives so much back in flavor. So go ahead and roast the peppers, crumble the feta, drizzle that olive oil, sprinkle on the oregano, add a splash of vinegar, and watch how seriously addictive it becomes.
Try out this Roasted Peppers with Feta Meze and let me know if you’ve become addicted like I have.
Have a wonderful morning/afternoon/evening, everyone!

Roasted Peppers with Feta Meze
Ingredients
- 5 bell peppers red - roasted
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ½ cup feta cheese crumbled
- 2 tbsp white vinegar
- salt optional
- pepper optional
- 2 tbsp oregano dried
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200℃.
- Place the peppers into the pan and let them cook until they’re soft and slightly charred. This step brings out their natural sweetness and adds a rich, deep flavor to the meze.
- Once the peppers are done, remove them from the pan and set them aside to cool completely. This helps the peppers settle and makes them easier to handle before adding the rest of the ingredients.
- Place the cooled peppers onto a serving dish. Generously drizzle them with olive oil and a splash of vinegar. If you'd like, season with a bit of salt and pepper. Finish by crumbling feta cheese over the top and sprinkling with dried oregano.
- Serve and enjoy with your favorite crusty bread or warm pita. 🙂
