Easy baked Brie with Honey Recipe

Hi fellow foodies,

Most people like to prepare this baked Brie appetizer for the holidays.  Not me, I’m not the type of person who follows all the trends.   Since I was in a festive mood over the weekend, don’t ask me why it was just one of my happy moods.  And so I wanted to add this baked Brie appetizer as a starter for lunch.  I’m curious anyone out there feeling festive? Yes? No? Maybe? hmmm

I read an article a few months ago about French cheeses.  I was actually doing a bit of research to learn more about cheeses and it said that the French have lost count as to how many cheeses exist in France.  Whenever I had the opportunity to go to a French supermarket, I was overwhelmed with the cheese aisle.  So many different types of cheeses to choose from and not knowing where to start.  Since we can find brie in the supermarket all year round, why not be festive in May?

There are two tips/tricks I would like to point out if you going to try out this recipe for the first time.  Watch the timer!!  In my oven, the cheese had melted in 7 minutes.  If you leave it in the oven for more than 7 or 8 minutes it might just completely melt.  The second tip is to lay a piece of parched paper into the baking pan before placing the cheese.  This way you can place it onto a cheese platter or plate if you wish.   A delicious addition to any table and definitely a crowd-pleaser.  I garnished this with pomegranate, walnuts, and a few crushed almonds.  But you can garnish it with any fruit or nuts you prefer.

Our fourth episode of “Behind the Greek Apron” is live we hope you enjoy it!!  And if you are Greek or Non-Greek and have prepared a delicious Greek dish please submit a high-quality photo to our email:  behindthegreekapron@gmail.com  and we will post it on our Instagram account.  😉

Have a wonderful morning/afternoon/evening everyone!!

A French cheese that melts in just a few minutes. Dip in your favorite toasted bread or cracker, a lovely addition to any table.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 8 minutes
Course Appetizer, Brunch, Dinner, Lunch
Cuisine French, Mediterranean
Servings 6 people

Ingredients

  • 1 round brie cheese
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp walnuts crusted
  • 1 tbsp almonds crusted
  • pomegranate optional
  • parchment paper

Instructions

  • Place a piece of parched paper (I always like to crumble the parched paper) into a shallow medium/large round shallow baking pan. Unwrap the cheese and place the cheese onto the parched paper.
  • Place into the pre-heated oven at 180 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes. But you must keep an eye on it so that it doesn't completely melt.
  • Garnish with your favorite toppings and pour some delicious honey over the cheese. I like to toast my bread with a bit of olive oil and oregano and bake them until they are not completely golden brown. Serve brie and indulge.
