Hey there,
We have a few more days before Thanksgiving, and since these past few weeks, it’s been all about the Thanksgiving menu I needed. a break from Thanksgiving food. This Greek Sausage Dog with Peppers and Onions is a super quick and easy dish made with peppers and onions. This recipe brought back memories of Italian festivals in my neighborhood with Sausage Stands that had many drooling while they waited. They had no patience the smell just drove you insane. I am sure they still have those lovely neighborhood festivals. If you’ve never been to one you should visit.
I used Greek sausages for this Greek Sausage dog with peppers and onion recipe as you’ve already read. The Italian sausages in my market were quite spicy, so I tried to avoid anything HOT and SPICY, as stated on the package. I used orange, red, and yellow red bell peppers. but I also added a longhorn red sweet pepper to give the peppers extra sweetness. I also added a small amount of crushed garlic, to give it an extra something special. Unfortunately, there are no farmer’s markets in my area which makes absolutely no sense to me, and is frustrating sometimes.
The combination of sausages, peppers, and onions is always a favorite for a quick lunch or dinner in my household. Instead of grilling the sausages, I used the air fryer, a quicker option. The sausages came out just as juicy. I should mention that there is a Greek recipe that has been around for many many years called Spetsofai. It’s a one-pan dish and it’s amazingly delicious. Maybe you would like to give this recipe a go. No bread is needed unless you want to dip. https://foodzesty.com/greek-sausages-peppers-in-tomato-sauce-spetsofai/
For the lovers of sausages, both recipes are delicious with or without a hot dog bun.
Enjoy your morning/afternoon/evening everyone!
