Crispy Sweet Paprika Fries

This was one of my very first recipes I posted when I started out as a Food Blogger.  My delicious Crispy Sweet Paprika Fries, which definitely deserve a comeback. Potatoes are the heroes of the food world, in my opinion. Slice them up, toss them with sweet paprika, and suddenly they’re not just potatoes anymore. They’re golden, smoky, slightly sweet fries that make you keep coming back for more and more and moreeee!

And then comes the Greek twist (what did you think?? there would be no Greek twist), a generous drizzle of good Greek olive oil. 🙂  The olive oil helps the potatoes become crispier in the oven, giving them that rich Mediterranean flavor.  Sweet paprika is the star ingredient in this recipe.  It gives warmth without heat, flavor without drama. Now, we are only human, and sometimes we just might make a mistake, and accidentally use hot paprika instead of sweet. It’s ok, you will have hot and spicy fries even though we were going for cozy.

Baking fries is always a little challenging. Spread them out on parchment paper on the tray, give them space, sing a little happy song, and hope they come out crispy instead of floppy. But this old recipe has never betrayed me. The fries crisp up beautifully, brown evenly, and that makes me happy.  Potatoes, paprika, olive oil, salt, are all you need.  Earlier, I mentioned a Greek twist want to hear another twist? Add oregano. WOWWWW!!!

These Crispy Sweet Paprika Fries may be an old recipe, but they’re back for a reason, just tooo delicious and impossible not to love.

Cripsy Sweet Paprika Fries

These Crispy Sweet Paprika Fries are a simple, comforting side dish with a beautiful balance of warm spice and natural sweetness. Thinly sliced potatoes are tossed in olive oil and sweet paprika, then baked until perfectly crisp on the outside and tender inside.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes

Cuisine Greek
Servings 6 servings

Ingredients
  

  • 5 potatoes washed, peeled, and sliced into ¼ inch wide,
  • 1 ½ tsp sweet paprika
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • salt optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 180℃.
  • In a large bowl, add the ¼ cup olive oil and the 1 ½ tsp sweet paprika, and salt. Use a small whisk to combine the ingredients.
  • Toss in the sliced potatoes and drizzle the mixture over the potatoes. Cook for 30 minutes or until golden.
  • Serve with your favorite dip.
