Cantaloupe and Pineapple Smoothie

Hello foodie friends,

We are still having heat waves and it’s gotten to the point of it being unbearable.  So, we’ve been eating fresh salads and drinking more and more smoothies, than usual.  This time the smoothie of choice was this Cantaloupe and Pineapple Smoothie.  We have a variety of cantaloupes in Europe but the one that mostly buy is the Galia Cantaloupe.   The Galia Cantaloupe coloring is more of a greenish/yellowish color melon.  The Cantaloupe that is used to make Cantaloupe Smoothies in the US has an orange color but that’s because they often find The Athena Cantaloupe.   I couldn’t remember the name of the top of my head and so I had to research it.

This is why you can see that my smoothie has a greenish/yellowish color rather than an orange color.  Since I don’t eat bananas I thought I would add Greek yogurt.  As I was looking at the smoothie it made no sense to add Greek yogurt because it was already a thick fruit puree.  I used a whole cantaloupe, and a cup of frozen pineapple chunks and it was fine.  I always try to substitute bananas with different ingredients, Greek yogurt is usually my go-to but there are those times when you’re just not in the mood for the same old thing.

To make this Cantaloupe and Pineapple smoothie even more interesting I added a splash well more than a splash of orange juice.  Does anyone else like to add orange juice to their smoothie?  Cantaloupes like watermelons are about 90% water but adding a little orange juice makes it blend easier and gives it an even more fruitier taste. Don’t you think so? 🙂

This summer was all about fruits and salads for us.

Wishing everyone a wonderful morning/afternoon/evening and a great weekend.
