Spicy Feta Dip (Tyrokafteri)

The Christmas Spicy Feta Dip is plated in a round white bowl. Garnished with a piece of parsley.

Hey there foodie friends,

Are you looking to add a little something  Greek and special to your Thanksgiving table this year? Then this Spicy Feta Dip (Tyrokafteri) is it!  If you’ve ever sat down at a Greek taverna and wondered why everyone around you is happily dipping their bread. It’s because they are dipping into something creamy, tangy, and spicy.  Tyrokafteri, the spicy feta dip that Greeks adore, me included, and guests fall instantly in love with. If you are not a fan of feta cheese, try this dip. https://foodzesty.com/greek-tzatziki-recipe/

This dip is one of those mezze dishes that appear on the table before anyone decides what to order. And like all Greek favorites, it’s made with just a few simple ingredients: feta cheese, roasted peppers, olive oil, and a little more than just heat, a whole lot of heat. 🙂 Has anyone ever watched the YouTube channel First We Feast? If not… You absolutely should! That kind of spicy heat is hilarious to watch and slightly terrifying. hahahh  My brother introduced me to the channel a few years ago, and even though I’m not much of a spicy-food eater, the show always makes me laugh. Now this kind of spicy heat is the one in my own Tyrokafteri, which is the one I can handle, and finish the bowl.

Every family has their own version. Some add yogurt to make it smoother, some add extra peppers for serious heat, and some keep it very traditional with just feta and a pinch of spice. Me? Well… you already know I love to play in the kitchen. 🙂 So mine lands somewhere between cozy Greek taverna-style and “let’s do this!”

The beauty of Tyrokafteri is that it’s easy to whip up. Honestly, the hardest part is not eating it straight from the bowl with a spoon. (I may or may not be speaking from experience… again.) It pairs perfectly with warm pita bread, crunchy veggies, roasted potatoes, or even as a spread inside a sandwich.  This Spicy Feta Dip (Tyrokafteri) is a zingy side dish for any holiday spread. Tyrokafteri always shows up on my table.

So yes, grab your feta, your peppers, your good olive oil… and let’s bring a little spicy Greek dip into your kitchen. Trust me, one bite and you’ll understand why this dip never lasts more than a few minutes in my house.  It’s a great addition to your Thanksgiving appetizer menu.

In the last recipe I posted about a year ago, I forgot to add the chili flakes, sorry guys. 🙁

Have a lovely morning, afternoon, and evening, everyone! 🙂
