This is a traditional preserved dessert made with whole grapes simmered in a sugar syrup. Infused with lemon and sometimes spices. Served with a spoon and a glass of cold water, it's a classic Greek hospitality treat, sweet, simple, and bursting with nostalgia.

- 1 lbs/kg seedless green grapes
- ⅗ cups brown sugar add extra for more sweetness
- ⅗ cups water
- ¼ tbsp vanilla extract
- 1½ lemon juice
Remove the stems carefully from the grapes and rinse them thoroughly under running water.
Place the grapes in a large pot and sprinkle in the brown sugar. You can use regular sugar to prepare this recipe.
Pour in the water and the vanilla extract and bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.
Avoid using a spoon to stir and just give the pot a little shake now and then.
Slowly pour in the lemon juice.
This delicious dessert is ready when the syrup has thickened and has a glossy, rich shine.
