Greek Cheese Bread (Tyropsomo)

Greek Tyropsomo, or cheese bread, is a rustic recipe made with feta cheese. This simple bread is soft on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside. Equipment

  • 1 Baking pan 20 cm
  • 2 mixing bowls
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 spatula

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ⅓ cups self-rising flour
  • ¾ cups milk
  • ¾ cups yogurt Greek full-fat
  • 2 eggs large and whisked
  • 2 tbsp parmesan grated-optional
  • 1 cup feta cheese crumbled
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • cup butter + 1 tsp for the baking pan melted

Instructions
 

  • Combine the ¾ cups milk, ¾ cups yogurt, 2 eggs and ⅛ cup butter in one bowl. Whisk until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl mix together the 1 ⅓ cups self-rising flour, 1 tsp baking powder.
  • Preheat the oven to 200℃
  • Stir in the crumbled 1 cup feta cheese and 2 tbsp parmesan. Gently stir.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until everything is well combined.
  • Use a baking brush to lightly coat your baking pan with the 1 tsp of butter before pouring in the batter.
  • Bake for 35 minutes until golden brown.
  • Serve hot or cold.
